Daily Scriptural Reflection

by Rev. Thomas Danielsen, C.Ss.R.

July 3, 2009: Thomas, Apostle: Eph. 2:19-22; Ps. 117:1-2; John 20:24-29

Psalm 117 is the shortest of all psalms! But it provides the "bottom line" for any reflection on the reading and gospel for this Feast. Our God is the source and the end of our whole faith experience! While we might get all warm and fuzzy over the proclamation of the spiritual DNA that is ours in reading Ephesians, the Thomas story in John's gospel jolts us back to the reality of our limitations. All things considered, we need to join the psalmist in thanking God for being God.
